Our History

George BrownIn 2013, our founder George Brown combined his resources and his passion for wine and founded our wine company. He named the company “Alexis George Wine Cellars” after his two beautiful children, the loves of his life. It is that focus on heritage, family and community that drive our culture and philosophy every day.

Our Philosophy

At Alexis George we are committed to three simple premises; Produce quality wines at a great value; Make wines that express the unique qualities and flavors of the varietal and appellation in which it’s grown; and pay it forward through our community outreach.

Community Support

We are committed to strengthening our communities. In conjunction with our many volunteer efforts, a portion of the proceeds from each bottle of wine we produce is pledged to create student scholarships and grants, as well as support community organizations that provide mentorship programs and support for our youth.

Winegrowing Philosophy

We support sustainable winegrowing philosophies. We promote practices that enhance biodiversity, soil and water health while ensuring that farming needs are met today without compromising the needs of future generations.


Jon AffonsoDirector of Winemaking
Jon Affonso

Jon has built an impressive background over the past fifteen years as a winemaker, spanning many of the most impressive wine regions in the world. Jon’s experience on the winemaking team at the world-renowned Chateau Angelus in Saint-Émilion (Bordeaux), France was invaluable as it gave him classical winemaking knowledge and techniques.

Jon then spent valuable time as a research chemist with Sutter Home in Napa. His move to the winemaking team at Dry Creek Vineyards in Sonoma, as Assistant Winemaker, gave him critical skills in white wine production. Not only did he further develop his winemaking skills but also he became recognized as an award winning Winemaker, especially for Sauvignon Blanc in the Dry Creek region. Jon also spent a number of years in the Sierra Foothills at Renwood Winery and while there began to produce many award winning red wines, specifically some of California’s best Zinfandels.

Jon earned his Master’s of Science degree from the highly reputed Enology Program at Fresno State University and his MBA in wine business from California State University Sonoma. His education in wine and his passion for wine making helped him to build his own urban winery in Sacramento. With Jon’s extensive background, skill set, and understanding of the art, science and business of wine, we at Alexis George Wine Cellars are thrilled to have him leading the wine making team for our wine portfolio.
